out of the mouth of babes

Wow it has been too long since I blogged...

Here are a few things from my lovely children over Memorial Weekend.

We went out of town on Sat. I asked all the kids to pack an extra set of clothes for the day. (you know just in case) Josiah asked "Why do we need to bring another set of clothes?" I said "just in case you spill something" He seriouly said "but what if I spill twice?" I said "You won't."

20 min later we were loading into the van. I found Abby staring into the rearview mirror. She was staring at the scratch on her nose from the day before. She looked at me and said "Am I going there looking like this?" OMG I have a little Diva--Do you think she'll have a closet just for shoes? (Now remember she is only 3!)

Today Abby came to me and said "I want to eat all the time so I can get fat and gooey."

Does anyone else write this stuff down? Oh how cute.

coffee and children

Today was Hannah's field trip. In my rush to get our lunches made I wasn't really paying attention to Elli. I found her eating the outside of a banana. So I just stuck her in her high chair and pushed her up to the counter, opened up the banana and let her eat it. I then left. I got into the van and headed off to Hannah's field trip. Half-way there I got a call from Nate.

Nate: Do you know where you left your coffee?

Trina: (why is he asking me, does he want some?) Ummmm? Yeah... On the counter...
IN FRONT OF ELLI!

Nate: Yep.. She drank half of it and dumped the rest on herself. She want's more, she won't take her bottle. I think she's getting a little jittery.

Trina: Whoops!

Nate: That's it see you later.

Trina: (oh man I only had a half cup of coffee--how am I going to make it through the field trip)

soccer wife

Nate started soccer again last night. Unfortunatly 10 minutes into the game he heard a loud "Pop" around his knee. He was out for the rest of the game. Today he has been hobbling around the house and lounging on the couch with multiple bags of corn and peas around his knee. I am praying it gets better soon.

Homeschooling

This week I have had two friends ask me if I was going to homeschool next year. The thought always crosses my mind. I made one phone call and am able to purchase and borrow what I need for both Hannah and Josiah. So I have decided to try it out this summer and see if Homeschooling is a fit.

plumbing

Today Josiah is helping daddy with the plumbing. Yesterday we had a leak under the sink. I think they finally found where the leak is. Josiah decided to hang from the pipes--my little gymnist. Nate told him not to. So Josiah decided to pet the pipes instead.

Hannah said what?

I had a wonderful time with my girlfriends at the Embassy Suites. While Nate and the kids were picking me up they came in to use the restroom. In the courtyard is a beautiful grand piano that was playing music. No one was at the piano--yet the keys were moving. Hannah says "Mom, is there an invisible man playing the piano?" I laugh and explained the technology behind the modern day player piano.

So That's Why?

So lately Abby's been quite naughty. I've been racking my brain on why she just won't follow direction. Am I not spending enough time with her? Is she just at that exploring age, 3 1/2? Does she just not need a nap? Is it because she is the third child?

Today I had her lay on the carpet by the front door for her nap. She snucked out and got some games and spread them all over the floor. It took a few spankings and taking away treats to motivate her to actually pick them up and bring them to the table, so I could put them away.

As we were sitting there putting the cards away I asked her why she is being so naughty "Don't you care that I am the mom and it is important to do what I ask of you?"

Her responce "Oh, I don't think about you."

It has dawned on me that I have been telling them what to do. I used to say I need you to do this and I want you to do that. I guess I have been a frustrated dictator lately. Well that is going to change. I am going to revert back to what has worked for me in the past, and that is Please and Thank-you's and expressing my feelings and needs.
